At Riverside Training we are able to help you gain those certificates and in some cases provide funding for them. Below are the most frequently requested certificates however, if the one you need is not listed, please call the centre and we can see what support is available.

Discover how to get the most from a job description and prepare the best ever job application form to get the job. Learn how to sell yourself and promote your own personal skills. This 3 day course is excellent to help you realise your skills and abilities for future job opportunities.

Office Skills

This 3-day course will help you prepare for the role of an administrator or any office based position and identify the skills needed. Learning how to deal with telephone queries, corresponding with customers and different tasks you would be expected to complete in an administration role.

Tipping Point

Tuesday 21/11/17 – 28/11/17 10:00am – 3:00pm

The Tipping Point is a practical and concise course that enables participants to spot the signs of mental distress. The course covers the underlying causes of mental ill health and tell-tale signs and symptoms. At the end of the Tipping Point training, attendees will be able to recognise when a person is exhibiting signs of mental distress, provide initial comfort and support, and be aware of appropriate referral and signposting routes. The Tipping Point is a practical and functional course and participants can apply their knowledge with immediate effect.

Job Specific Qualifications and certificates

Level 1 Award Health and Safety in a Construction Environment (QCF)

Wednesday 19/12/17 9:00am – 4:30pm

This is a terrific new 1 day course to gain NOCN qualification at level 1 and will include an exam at the end of the day. This is an essential element to gaining your CSCS labourer’s card. You will learn about:
• Risk Assessments
PPE, Manual Handling, Working at Heights
• Risks and hazards within a construction environment
There is a £100 registration fee, If you are claiming ESA or JSA the fee is £50.*

  • Please not this fee is non-refundable and you will need to produce identification on registration

Level 1 Award in IT User Skills (QCF)

Tuesday and Wednesday 9:15am- 12:15pm 14/11/17 – 13/12/17

This course if for those who wish to gain IT skills used in the workplace at level 1. Attending twice a week you will gain the skills in:

•Word Processing – creating documents, inserting tables, pictures and applying formats
•Excel – creating simple worksheets, inserting formula and creating charts
•PowerPoint – create a presentation with text and images

This is a recognised qualification and is a fantastic foundation before moving on to Level 2.

If you are unemployed a £10 deposit will secure your place and is refundable on full completion of the course. If you are in employment a fee of £180 is payable

Level 1 Award in Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care(QCF)

Friday 19/01/18 – 9/02/18 9:30am – 1:00pm

This is a great opportunity to gain a level 1 qualification in Adult Social Care. This is a short and exciting course to provide you with an introduction to working in adult social care and working with adults in different social care environments.
During this course you will be able to:
• To define adult social care
• Be able to identify the principles of adult social care
• Identify the skills, values and attitudes essential to work in adult social care
• To know the responsibilities and limitations of a social care worker

Level 1 Award in Introduction to the Hospitality Industry (QCF)

Wednesday 17/01/18 – 7/02/18 9:15am – 12:15pm

This is a terrific new 5 week course to gain NOCN qualification at level 1 in Introduction to the Hospitality Industry. If you are considering roles such as bar work, coffee shop or similar, this is the course for you.
At the end of the course you will know:
• About main food commodities and safe storage
• Services offered within the hospitality industry
• Know the benefits of good customer service and different customer groups

Level 1 Award in Retail (QCF)

Tuesday 16/01/18 – 6/02/18 9:15am – 12:15pm

A fantastic opportunity if you are thinking of working in a retail environment, achieving a level 1 qualification in Retail. During the course you will learn:
• The importance of stock control
• The benefits of effective stock control
• Characteristics of an effective team
• Identify different roles and levels of responsibility within retail teams
• Identify key steps involved with the selling process
• Understand how to find out what the customer wants
• How to use product information to promote sales

CSCS Card (Assessment)

A CSCS Cards is the most important qualification in construction. A CSCS Card shows that you have the skills required to work well in your trade and that you have the Health and Safety knowledge needed to work safely. CSCS Cards are graded by a colour system, the CSCS Card you qualify for depends on your level of training, experience and qualifications.

Your CSCS Card will be specific to your trade and will also contain relevant information about you on its computer chip so that the information can be checked on site. Currently about 80% of UK Construction sites require all workers to have a CSCS Card.

At the centre you are able to access practice materials to ensure you are fully prepared for your test and have the required knowledge to answer the questions.

Foundation Food Safety (Certification)

This fully endorsed Level 2 Food Safety certificate meets the legal training requirement for handling food in the workplace. Comprehensive, concise and equivalent to a full day’s training programme, the course contains 15 modules, each with a short assessment at the end. The course has been independently reviewed and commended for Level 2 training by Highfield Awarding Body for Compliance.

On successfully completing the course, you’ll receive your Food Safety certificate to show employers and inspectors that you’ve been trained to an appropriate level. You’ll also be able to:

• understand the importance of hygiene
• learn how to prevent food poisoning
• use the right equipment when handling food
• understand the different ways food can be contaminated
• understand the law relating to food safety

Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults

If you are considering working in the care sector or with vulnerable adults this short online course is a great introduction to understanding the principles of safeguarding. Learn how to identify the principles of what safeguarding is, your responsibilities and the steps you would need to take if you identified any concerns.

Emergency First Aid at Work

This accredited course is suitable for those who are wishing to be first aiders. It is made up of practical and theory elements which all must be completed to pass. The aims and objectives of the Emergency First Aid at Work course are to enable individuals designated as the First Aider at work to carry out appropriate first aid in an emergency. Following the course, the attendees will be able to manage a casualty who is injured at work, or suffers from a serious illness, until the emergency services arrive
