Skills & Social Huddle

Do you live in the South-West, North-West or East wards of Gainsborough?

Great chance to learn new skills, have a cuppa and chat, meet new people and have a laugh. Skills and social is a new weekly session where you will have the chance to have a go at crafts, art, IT, knitting and much more. We will also have organisations such as Citizen’s Advice Bureau so you can access information, all in one place. We would also like you to say in what you would like in the sessions so all ideas are welcome.

So come for a cuppa, come for a chat, come along and see where we are at, all FREE.

Tipping Point

Tuesday 20/02/18 – 27/02/18 10:00am – 3:00pm FREE

The Tipping Point is a practical and concise course that enables participants to spot the signs of mental distress. The course covers the underlying causes of mental ill health and tell-tale signs and symptoms. At the end of the Tipping Point training, attendees will be able to recognise when a person is exhibiting signs of mental distress, provide initial comfort and support, and be aware of appropriate referral and signposting routes. The Tipping Point is a practical and functional course and participants can apply their knowledge with immediate effect.

Find Your Mojo

Friday 19/1/18 – 9/2/18 10:30am – 13:00pm FREE

The aim of Find Your Mojo is to provide at best a prevention mechanism, and at worst an optimal and speedy recovery process for anyone who is experiencing low-confidence and self-esteem, social isolation and mental health difficulties such as anxiety and depression. The course encourages participants to take up new hobbies and activities, gain qualifications, learn new skills, undergo training, join social and support groups and become involved in volunteering. These are the primary steps that a person experiencing low-confidence, anxiety and / or depression needs to take to enable them to start to rebuild themselves and their lives again. Find Your Mojo is an inspiring and uplifting course that encourages participants to begin to believe in themselves again and take previously unthinkable steps in to the unknown to create a better future!

Beginners Counselling

Wednesday 28/02/18 – 21/03/18 6:30pm – 9:00pm £20

This short four week course offers a superb introduction to Counselling.
During this course you will learn about and practise the core skills needed to offer an ethical and professional environment.
You will learn about the different types of clients and issues presented and develop skills to support a helping relationship.
Finally you will be introduced to some of the boundaries, legislation and procedures involved in Counselling work.

During this four week course you will learn:

An understanding of the term Counselling
To identify and demonstrate basic Counselling skills
The different types of client areas and issues
Some of the key ethics, boundaries and legislation linked to this field of work

Improvers Counselling

Wednesday 25/04/18 – 16/05/18 6:30pm – 9:00pm £20

This informative four week course offers progression from the beginner’s course.
During this course you will cover more depth regarding Counselling skills and practise. You will be introduced to the main theories and theorists linked to this area of work, looking at how they differ and how they can be used.
Finally you will also learn about contracting, endings, referrals and different organisations who specialise in offering Counselling services.

During this four week course you will learn:

  • To adapt, demonstrate and complete short practical activities
  • About contracts, endings and referrals
  • The three main theories, their origins and theorists
  • About progression, further study and different counselling services.

Level 1 Award in Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care(QCF)

Friday 19/01/18 – 9/02/18 9:30am – 1:00pm

This is a great opportunity to gain a level 1 qualification in Adult Social Care. This is a short and exciting course to provide you with an introduction to working in adult social care and working with adults in different social care environments.
During this course you will be able to:
• To define adult social care
• Be able to identify the principles of adult social care
• Identify the skills, values and attitudes essential to work in adult social care
• To know the responsibilities and limitations of a social care worker
• To identify the various types of adult social care support and their purpose
• Identify jobs available in the adult social care sector
• To identify different careers opportunities within care
On completion of this course you will gain a recognised NOCN qualification at Level 1 through portfolio assessments.
If you are unemployed a £10 deposit will secure your place and is refundable on full completion of the course. If you are in employment a fee of £120 is payable

Pathways to Wellness is a fantastic new project to help people who are suffering from mental health issues

Coaching and support for people who have had or are currently experiencing mental health issues. This could mean you have low confidence, feel socially excluded, are experiencing anxiety and depression or have health and weight loss issues.

The project starts on 5th September 2013 and you can join the project at any time. You will be able to engage with anyone who is 18-64 years old and during this time you will be able to access: : • Weekly one – one confidential support sessions • Monthly interactive and fun workshops • Expand your confidence and social circle by attending organised regular activities
